Upgrades are currently available on flights operated by Qantas. Additional partner airlines will be added in the future.
If you’re requesting an upgrade with AAdvantage® miles, log in to your AAdvantage® account. If you’re requesting an upgrade with cash, enter your payment information, review and submit your upgrade request. You will not be charged unless your upgrade is confirmed.
If your upgrade is confirmed, you’ll receive a confirmation email from Qantas from 24 hours before departure.
If your trip includes a flight operated by Qantas, we’ll direct you to the Qantas site to make your request. We’ll add more flights and oneworld® member airlines as they become available.
1. Choose the Qantas operated flight you want to upgrade.
2. Select to pay with cash or miles.
3. Review the details and submit your request.
You will not be charged unless your upgrade request is confirmed.
Upgrades are subject to taxes and fees, and you may have to pay more when moving to a higher cabin of service. If your upgrade is confirmed for a partner flight, your bag allowance on connecting flights with American will stay the same.

Once you submit your upgrade request, you’ll receive an email from Qantas with your request details.
If your upgrade hasn’t been confirmed yet, use this email to change or cancel your request up to 5 hours before a domestic flight and up to 10 hours before an international flight.
You’ll receive an email from Qantas before departure for each flight letting you know if your request was successful.
